Sugar production from October to December up 4.75% to 115.70 lakh ton: NFCSFL

According to the NFCSFL, production in Uttar Pradesh, the country’s largest sugar-producing state, remained below 30.90 lakh ton in October-December of the 2021-22 season, compared to 33.65 lakh ton a year ago. year.
However, production in Maharashtra, the country’s second largest sugar-producing state, increased to 45.75 lakh tonne from 39.85 lakh tonne, while in Karnataka the production rose to 24.90 lakh tonne against 24.15 lakh ton during the same period.
Sugar production in Gujarat remained slightly above 3.40 lakh tonne from October to December of this year, compared to 3.35 lakh tonne a year ago.
NFCSFL data showed a marginal increase in production in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttarakhand.
Total sugar production for the 2021-22 season is set at 315 lakh ton, compared to 311.05 lakh ton in the 2020-21 season, he added.
