Miftah for maintaining strategic sugar reserves to control rising prices – Latest News – The Nation

ISLAMABAD – Federal Finance and Revenue Minister Miftah Ismail has stressed maintaining strategic sugar reserves and regulating sugar prices in the country to avoid price hikes.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf, chairman of the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association in the Finance Division.
The President, Mr. Zaka Ashraf, appreciated the current government’s efforts to curb inflationary pressure and briefed the Finance Minister on the problems facing the sugar industry.
The finance minister stressed maintaining strategic sugar reserves and regulating sugar prices in the country to avoid price hikes and provide maximum relief to the masses. He assured the PSMA Chairman that the current government is aware of the problems facing the sugar industry in Pakistan and is keen to resolve these issues as soon as possible.
In conclusion, the Minister of Finance expressed the government’s determination to promote business activities and help the business community achieve sustainable growth in the country.
The Secretary of Finance, Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of the Department of National Food Security and Research NFS&R, Secretary of the Department of Industries and Production and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
