New Delhi: Diabetes is a health condition in which the blood sugar level increases. This could be due to less insulin production in the body or an insulin resistant body. Diabetes could be autoimmune, also known as type 1 diabetes, while type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease. If your blood sugar level is not controlled, it can damage nerves, kidneys and several other organs.
Although medications are important in controlling the rise in blood sugar, diet and lifestyle also play a crucial role in controlling high blood sugar.   2. Flavored yogurt: Flavored yogurts contain high amounts of sugar, making them an unhealthy choice for people with diabetes. Instead, you can choose unflavored yogurts or homemade yogurts.
  3. Flavored coffee: Coffee may have several health benefits, but flavored coffee drinks are prohibited for people with diabetes. They have added sugar and the carbohydrate content of these drinks is high.
  4. Packaged snacks: These snacks are low in nutrients and also contain fat that can be digested quickly, leading to sugar spikes.
