The next series of Apple TV+ Sugar just found a new lead actor in the Oscar-nominated actress Amy Ryan. This news follows the recent announcement that The sand man actress Kirby Howell-Baptiste had been thrown in the face Colin Farrel in the new show. Land details for Sugar are currently rare, but the series is described as a modern detective story set in Los Angeles.
Sugar is an Apple Studios production created by Mark Protosevich. Protosevich is known to have helped write the scripts for I am a legend, Thorand Spike Leeit is Old boy remake. Fernando MeirellesOscar-nominated director of The Constant Gardener, Blindnessand The two popes, is expected to lead the next series of Apple TV+. Meirelles will also serve as the show’s executive producer alongside Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon, Scott Greenbergand Vucelich chip.
Ryan is perhaps best known for her portrayal of distraught mother Helene McCready in Gone baby gone, which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Since his star performance in Gone baby goneRyan has appeared in many acclaimed films, including Changeling, Jack Goes Boating, Birdman, Bridge of Spies, Beautiful Boyand lost girls. Ryan currently stars as Jan on Hulu’s hit comedy series, Only murders in the building. Ryan will next be seen in Ari Asterthe last release of Boulevard of disappointment.opposite Joaquin Phoenix.
Between Ryan and his two currently announced co-stars, Sugar seems to have all the talent attached to it. Farrell is a critically acclaimed actor who is best known for starring in the movies Phone Booth, In Bruges, Horrible Bosses, The Lobster, and more recently this year The Batman. Farrell stars in the new movie Thirteen lives, which is now streaming on Prime Video, and is expected to appear in the movies next The Banshees of Inisherin and natural childas well as an untitled Batman series. In addition to The sand manHowell-Baptiste is known for appearing on the shows The right place, barryand Kill Eveand can be seen in upcoming movies Mr. Harrigan’s phone and She taught love.
It has already been reported that Apple TV+ outbid on Netflix for Sugar. This is the second show to come out of a collaboration between Apple TV+ and executive producer Kinberg, following the sci-fi series Invasion, which was co-created by Kinberg. Genre Films, Kinberg’s production company, is behind Sugar. Sugar is just one of many shows to recently receive a series order from Apple TV+.
